Whitin Observatory has three permanent telescopes: 6-inch and 12-inch Alvan Clark refractors and a 24-inch telescope. The Margaret C. Ferguson Greenhouses, the Alexandra Botanic Gardens, and the Hunnewell Arboretum contain one of the largest teaching collections of plants in the Northeast.
