The collection constitutes a specialized information source for the chemistry, engineering, forestry, environmental science, and landscape architecture programs at the college. The collection has concentrations in such areas as botany and plant pathology, biochemistry, chemical ecology, forest chemistry, polymer chemistry, economics, entomology, environmental studies, landscape architecture, environmental design, managment, paper science, photogrammetry, silvaculture, soil science, water resources, world forestry, wildlife biology, wood products engineering and zoology. Special collections include the College Archives, Ranger School Library, Cranberry Lake Biological Station Library and the Adirondack Ecological Center Library. Museums: The Syracuse University libraries, including the Science and Technology library immediately adjacent to the ESF campus and the libraries at SUNY Upstate Medical University, are within short walking distance of ESF. Moon Library shares an online library catalog with Syracuse University, which also provides access to hundreds of web-based databases.Students have access to climate-controlled greenhouses, a pilot-scale plywood laboratory, plant and insect growth chambers, a semi-commercial paper mill, one of the most complete photogrammetry and remote sensing laboratories in the world, and an extensive computer-aided design laboratory. ESF also has eight regional campuses and field stations totaling more than 25,000 acres across New York.
